Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Marble Cupcakes

You need to make these. Like Yesterday. This is the recipe I used. I adapted it a bit. I used a package of marble cake mix, instead of the devil's food cake. Also, I omitted the instant chocolate pudding. That's about it! So yummy.

Vanilla, looking so lonesome

Chocolate, come to mama

The two were just destined to be

You had your chance to eat me, now I look too pretty

Do you see the chocolate chip cookie dough (bottom center)?

Must. Not. Make. Eye Contact.

American Chocolate Week

Have you been in love? Like head-over-heels love? The kind that makes your nostrils flare? I have.

Hello, my name is Rita and I'm a chocoholic. Welcome to "the 12-step chocoholics program: Never be more than 12 steps away from chocolate." No problem. As long as you don't touch my chocolate, you won't get hurt. Clearly, I live for melty-ooey-gooey-chocolatey goodness. Call me a choco-nut, cocoa loco, whatever you want! Sticks and stones may break my bones, but chocolate swear words won't hurt me! Anyways, here is the recipe I used for my double chocolate chip cookies!

Going to the chapel and we're gonna get married. For better for worse, till death do us part, Chocolate, I will marry you.....with one exception.....you approve of a polygamous relationship. I mean, I need variety....milk, dark, white, semi-sweet, bittersweet. Yes? Splendid!

    The Chocolate Chip Cookie Diet

I'm on a diet. It's called the 3-day chocolate chip cookie challenge diet thingamagiger.

    What it involves:

*Making chocolate chip cookies from scratch
    *Dividing dough into 3 portions
    *Refrigerating dough
*Baking first portion on day one and eating
*Baking second portion on day two and eating
*Baking third portion on day three and eating
*Deciding if it's worth the 3-day challenge

Well, I did it. I baked the award winning chocolate chip cookie recipe hailed by the New York Times (and many others). Here is the recipe by Jacques Torres. I did adapt my recipe a bit. I used bourbon vanilla extract and milk chocolate chips instead of bittersweet chocolate disks.

Now, the reason for my 3-day challenge....drum roll please....the recipe calls for the dough to be refrigerated for 24-36 hours. And because I'm an instant gratification type person, I didn't want to wait a whole day or three to eat my cookies. Hence, the challenge. I wanted to see how refrigerating the dough affected the quality, look, and taste of my cookies.

    Here we go:

Day 1 (Same Day Dough Was Made)

My personal preference....the cookies tasted best on Day 1.

    Day 2 (24 hours later)

The cookies did turn out fluffier, but taste wise no major difference.

    Day 3 (36 hours later)

Not worth the 36 hour wait....my personal opinion.

If you have not yet tried this recipe, it's a must. They are very similar to bakery bought chocolate chip cookies. Note: Make sure not to over bake these. At first glance, they seem underdone, but once you take them out of the oven and let them sit for a couple of minutes, they look just fine. I went way longer than said baking time and mine turned our really crunchy on day 1 and 2. By day 3, I learned my lesson:).

    Easter Outfits

Yesterday, I had an Easter dress malfunction. Mind you....this is nothing out of the norm. Usually, I'm pleasantly surprised by a nice, fat stain on my dress, skirt, etc. And you know....the kind of stain that's usually in the center, where you can't hide it, on a white piece of clothing. Lovely ;).

Easter Dress Malfunction 2012 : Well this year friends, about a half hour before Church....I discovered that my dress was completely and utterly see-through. Not peek-a-boo view...no...like bare.  I must say....my mom was thrilled. So I tried on a pair of spanx underneath...no bueno. Shorts...nope. Mom's slip....she's a no work (please say with accent).

Solution: Then, a lightbulb went off. I had an old black bodycon type dress sitting in my closet (hoarder's paradise)....so I decided to try it underneath my dress. It was too long.....but nothing a pair of scissors couldn't fix. I cut, cut away. And problem solved! That's my story and I'm sticking to it:)!

How was your holiday weekend? Any stories/pictures/outfits you'd like to share? Hope you enjoyed some quality time with your family and ate lots of yummy in the tummy food!

    Here is my Easter outfit:

Oh Mylanta - Homemade Snickers Bar

What food could you not live without? If you had a choice, what would your last meal be? There is one word in my vocabulary: Chocolate. I smell it from miles away, I overhear it in conversations, and I eat it until the buttons on my pants allow. This is where spandex comes in handy.

Chocolate, you are humble, delicious, and satisfying. Truth is.....I'm wild about you. If I had a star for every time you brightened my day, I'd have a galaxy on my hands. Simply, you're comfort food for my soul.

Folks, I just made Snickers Bars....from scratch...from the comfort of my kitchen....and it was just about the easiest thing I've made. They are mean machine to the umpteenth power. They will make you moan, groan, and gasp....all in one sitting! You must make....and EAT these. Yes, I understand swimsuit season is just around the corner, but trust me you'd rather have this savory moment on your lips, than worry about your hips. Here is the RECIPE I followed.

I pinky promise, this delicious, melt in your mouth, bite of wonderful will change your life. P.S. Best eaten standing up over the kitchen sink, while fending off other family members ;)!
