Twenty Seventeen

I turned 30 this year. And I think more than any other birthday....this one was extremely hard to accept. It's just a number, they say. Oh, but for me, it was so much more than a number. So many feelings and emotions were tied to that number. It felt like the end of my youth. Like I had to close a chapter and move on, but I wasn't quite ready to do so. In my heart, I felt like I hadn't done enough, experienced enough, seen enough, lived enough. I so deeply wanted change. But, on the other hand....I was so afraid of change. 

Sometimes you get stuck in this mode. You focus so much on what you haven't done....that you forget about all of the cool things that you HAVE done. All of the little (or big) steps along the way. All of the ways in which you have grown. All of the things that you have experienced. All of the times that you didn't let fear get the best of you. All of ways that you rolled with change....and probably like a champ. 

I have to keep reminding myself that it's OK. It will all be OK. I just need to trust in the process and go with the flow. To accept my own pace and timing with things. And, I have to remember that I have not felt it all. Some of the best days of my life haven't even happened yet. The world still has so much left for me. And, so much left for you too! So, my wish for you in 2018, is to go into it with an open heart and be ready for those nights that will stay burned beneath your eyelids and those memories that will dance underneath your skin!
